Throughout the season, plenty of people have scrutinized the play of Jimmy Garoppolo. Nevertheless, he led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. With the Super Bowl being a week from Sunday, Richard Sherman called the critics of Garoppolo ‘idiots'.

The veteran quarterback spoke with Bleacher Report about Super Bowl 54 and Garoppolo's name came up. When asked about all of the criticism directed toward Garoppolo, Sherman said that, “Idiots sound like idiots at this point.”.

During the regular season, the 49ers QB completed 69.1 percent of his attempts for 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. All of those numbers were career-high marks for the sixth-year quarterback.

The former second-round pick has undoubtedly been efficient in Kyle Shanahan's offense thus far. But the reason the criticisms of Garoppolo are getting louder again are due to how he's been utilized in the playoffs.

In San Francisco's two postseason contests, Garoppolo has only attempted 27 passes. Within those 27 passes, Garoppolo has completed 17 of them for only 208 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Since throwing an interception in the first half of the Divisional Round Game, he's only thrown the ball 14 times.

The 49ers have been able to defeat the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers with their multi-faceted rushing attack. Altogether, San Francisco has combined for a whopping 471 rushing yards in their first two playoff games.

However, in the Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes will be manning the opposing offense for the Kansas City Chiefs. Therefore, Garoppolo will have plenty of opportunities to silence his doubters. If the 49ers lose and Garoppolo falters, the criticism for the confident quarterback is going to be deafening.
