Kyle Shanahan is reuniting with Tevin Coleman. The running back is signing a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The deal will be worth $10 million over the two years, with no word yet on how much is guaranteed. Coleman comes to San Francisco from Atlanta, where he's spent the past four years. The Falcons drafted Coleman in the third round back in 2015, and his rookie deal just expired.

Coleman had the best year of his career in 2016 when Shanahan was his offensive coordinator. Steve Sarkisian didn't know how to use him quite as well after Shanahan left for the Bay Area, and hooking back up with Shanahan could do wonders for Coleman's career.

With Coleman in the field, the 49ers now have a very talented backfield. They can have a two-headed monster with Jerick McKinnon, who missed the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. Shanahan was great at using a two-back system in Atlanta, and seems to be looking to repeat that success.

Under Shanahan in 2016, Coleman rushed for 520 yards and eight touchdowns, and added 31 receptions for 421 yards and another three touchdowns. All that happened in just 13 games. Coleman received a ton of volume this past year because Devonta Freeman was hurt, but things just weren't the same in the passing game.

It's a great signing for San Francisco, with a lot of upside and not very much risk. If Shanahan can replicate the Coleman/Freeman system he had going in Atlanta, this offense could be almost as electric.

San Francisco's season was a disappointment last year, but only because of the mountain of injuries they faced. With Jimmy Garoppolo and McKinnon back healthy and guys like Coleman added to the fold, they should be very fun to watch.
