The San Francisco 49ers will enter the upcoming 2020 campaign as the defending NFC Champions after coming up just short against the eventual Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. However, the 49ers will look a bit different this year as the team will certainly be asking more of a variety of different players — up-and-coming wide receiver Trent Taylor included, so it seems.

With Taylor slated to play alongside the likes of second-year wideout Deebo Samuel, rookie pass-catcher Brandon Aiyuk and several others at the position, the 49ers could be pretty loaded out wide for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“Samuel and Bourne are the only returners who played any kind of role on offense for the team last season,” writes Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. “But the 49ers expect big things from Taylor, a slot receiver, and Hurd, whom Lynch said is back to working out and is on pace to make an impact this season. Shanahan expects to use Hurd in a variety of different roles and positions. The competition for the final roster spots should be very competitive and could be decided by contributions on special teams.”

On the other hand, the 49ers will look a bit different in the backfield as well in 2020-21 as the team traded veteran running back Matt Breida to the Miami Dolphins over the weekend. The team did not re-sign current New Orleans Saints wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders this offseason either, paving the way for the aforementioned group of wideouts and others on offense.
