Kyle Shanahan is bringing in two more coaches with high-profile NFL pedigrees. The San Francisco 49ers announced a slew of coaching and health and performances hirings on Wednesday, including that of former NFL wide receivers Wes Welker and Miles Austin.

Welker is the 49ers' new receivers coach. He spent the last two seasons as an offensive and special teams assistant with the Houston Texans. A five-time Pro Bowler during his playing days, Welker retired after a stellar 13-year NFL career in 2015. He first rose to prominence with the Miami Dolphins in 2006, establishing himself as one of the NFL's most dangerous slot receivers.

It was his immediately ensuing stint with the New England Patriots, though, for which Welker will be most remembered.

He was named to four All-Pro teams during his six-season tenure with the Patriots, three times leading the NFL in catches. Welker left the team as a free agent in 2013, signing with the Denver Broncos, as New England's all-time leader in receptions.

Austin joins San Francisco as the team's offensive quality control coach. He has no prior NFL coaching experience.

An undrafted free agent, like Welker, Austin spent his first three NFL seasons on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad or playing sparingly on game day. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2009, with 81 catches for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Though he never managed that esteemed level of success again, Austin spent the next three seasons as a reliable member of Dallas' receiving corps.

He retired in 2015 after single-season stints with the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles.
