The San Francisco 49ers are officially headed to Super Bowl LIV in Miami where the heralded NFC West franchise will battle it out against the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs in two weeks. With the 49ers defeating the always dangerous Green Bay Packers in a big way on Sunday evening, San Francisco has now notably reached the franchise's seventh Super Bowl appearance.

With the 49ers slated to take on the Chiefs, who are no slouch, to say the least, San Francisco actually has the chance to make history in a few weeks. If the 49ers can defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV, San Francisco would tie both the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers with six all-time Super Bowl victories, which is the most in the NFL as it stands today.

The 49ers and Dallas Cowboys currently own five titles apiece with San Francisco actually preventing Green Bay from furthering its legacy. Had the Packers managed to beat the 49ers on Sunday evening in San Francisco, Green Bay would have been competing for the chance to capture the franchise's fifth Super Bowl victory.

The 49ers have not won a title in 24 years, though the NFC West franchise did reach just below the mountain top only six years back against the Baltimore Ravens. However, the 49ers were unable to secure a win as the team notably suffered its only Super Bowl loss ever at the hands of quarterback Joe Flacco and the Ravens. The 49ers were obviously victorious as a result of the franchise's five other trips to the Super Bowl, which came in 1981, 1984, 1988, 1989 and 1994.
