The San Francisco 49ers already have one of the NFL's best tight ends in George Kittle, but that won't stop them from trying to add some depth to the position.

According to Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio, the 49ers met with University of Iowa tight end Noah Fant this week.

Some two tight end sets anyone?

Fant is coming off of a junior campaign in which he hauled in 39 receptions for 519 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 21-year-old arrived at Iowa in 2016 and had a very quiet freshman season, logging just nine catches for 70 yards and a score. The following year, however, Fant had a breakout season of sorts, catching 30 passes for 494 yards and 11 touchdowns.

At 6-foot-4, 249 pounds, Fant brings solid size to the position, but what is most impressive about the Omaha, Ne. native is his athleticism, as he ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine and also registered a 39.5-inch vertical jump.

The 49ers own the second overall pick of the first round and don't pick again until No. 36, so they may need to trade back into the first round to have a shot at Fant, and at that point, you have to wonder if it would be worth it, as, again, San Francisco already has an elite tight end in Kittle.

The Niners won just four games this past season and saw starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo go down with a torn ACL after just three contests. San Francisco has not made the playoffs since the 2013-14 campaign.
