San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Solomon Thomas will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL he suffered on Sunday against the New York Jets, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Thomas suffered his injury during the first quarter of Sunday's 31-13 win over the Jets. Since Thomas will be out for the remainder of the season, the 49ers have agreed to terms with free-agent defensive end Ziggy Ansah on Monday to replace his starting spot. However, Ansah will need to go through his COVID-19 testing first in order to finalize the deal.

Thomas, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2017, played a vital role in the 49ers' defense last season, which was ranked eighth in the league. In 2019, the 25-year-old recorded 21 tackles, six quarterback hits, and one forced fumble in 16 games.

In addition to Thomas, 49ers defensive tackle Nick Bosa will also be out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL he suffered on Sunday. After the game on Sunday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan voiced his concerns about the turf at MetLife stadium.

“I know our players talked about it the entire game, just how sticky the turf was, and I think that was the first time people played on it, I think” Shanahan said. “But yeah, it was something our guys were concerned about right away. And the results definitely made that a lot stronger.
