San Francisco 49ers running back Tevin Coleman has only been with the Jimmy Garoppolo a few months but he can already tell one big difference from his former quarterback Matt Ryan.

“He’s smoother in the huddle. He doesn’t get on guys,” Coleman said after Wednesday’s practice via the Mercury News.com. “Matt, he’d get on you. He’d definitely get on you.”

It seems based on Coleman's comments that he is enjoying his time with Garoppolo but it doesn't seem like a comment that is taking a shot at Ryan, rather just comparing the differences he has seen in the two guys.

Coleman signing on to play with Garroppolo and the 49ers gives him a chance to be with Kyle Shannahan again and that is something he is excited about. One thing Coleman has noticed is how much more involved running backs are in the passing game.

“He’s definitely more creative than he was in Atlanta, everything he’s doing with the backs, tight ends and receivers,” Coleman said.

That is good news for Coleman who has always been a threat catching passes out of the backfield. Last season with the Falcons Coleman hauled in 32 passes for 276 yards and five touchdowns.

Coleman has already made good impressions on his teammates including Garrapolo who has noticed his work ethic.

“There’s a couple new things to the offense that I don’t know if they had when he was with Kyle,” Garoppolo said of Coleman. “But he’s an awesome guy, awesome teammate.

“Just one of those guys, never complains, he’s grinding 24/7 and he’s willing to do whatever you ask him. You’ve just got to appreciate him for that.”
