The San Francisco 49ers enjoyed a dominant win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Tevin Coleman went down with an ankle injury in the process.

The starting running back went down during the first half of his team's 31-17 beatdown of the Bucs. He had six carries for 23 yards and two catches for 33 yards before injuring his left foot.

Jeff Wilson played out the remainder of the game in Coleman's stead. Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reported how thankful head coach Kyle Shanahan was to have him on his team. He was also careful with his starting running back.

“We love Jeff,” Shanahan said. “Jeff’s a great player. We’ll see what’s up with Tevin, how long he’ll be out.”

Fortunately for the fans, they had a player to root for to temporarily forget about Coleman's worrying injury.

Nick Bosa had a fantastic start to his NFL career, recording a sack, three tackles, and three quarterback hits. However, he had to grit through incredible ankle pain to get it done.

“Just getting my ankle back,” Bosa said. “With an ankle sprain, you just have to kind of work through a little bit of pain. But I’m pretty happy that I got through the whole game.”

Bosa was not the only outstanding person in the field. The entire 49ers defense buckled and held strong. They prevented a Bucs comeback to break the expectations that stuck with the team for years.

It's still a long season, and anything can happen with the 49ers. But the fans will be hoping that Coleman will be present to play if they manage to qualify for the playoffs.
