San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo hooked up with rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel in the first quarter of the NFC West club's Week 13 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, scoring the game's first points (via NFL).

Samuel, 23, the 49ers' second-round pick out of South Carolina in the 2019 NFL Draft, caught a fourth-and-2 desperation pass from Garoppolo in double coverage for the 33-yard touchdown. It was Samuel's third receiving touchdown this season and his fourth career total TD.

San Francisco has a tough matchup on Sunday as the Niners are on the road starting at 1 p.m. ET against the 9-2 Ravens, led by MVP candidate quarterback Lamar Jackson. The early pass and risky gamble throwing it on short yardage on fourth down may point to the 49ers playing aggressively in their tilt against the dangerous Baltimore team.
