2018 was a lost season for the San Francisco 49ers. Hopes were understandably high, but injuries quickly derailed the campaign. Running back Jerick McKinnon tore his ACL before the season even started, and Jimmy Garoppolo tore his just a few weeks into it.

The 49ers have rotated quarterbacks the past couple of seasons, and are looking for some stability. Garoppolo looked tantalizing in his five starts with the team in 2017, but his follow-up was cut devastatingly short. Garoppolo has been progressing nicely in his recovery, and we got our latest confirmation of that today. In videos shared to social media, Jimmy G can be seen throwing during the 49ers' OTA practices:

As Joe Fann of the team's official site noted, Garoppolo was wearing a brace on his left knee. Garoppolo had said earlier this offseason that he'd be wearing a brace during the upcoming season.

The 49ers have been saying for months that Garoppolo has been working extremely hard and that they've been thoroughly impressed by his rehab work ethic. By the time the 2019 season starts, Garoppolo will be about precisely 11 months removed from his tear.

In three starts last season, Garoppolo finished with 718 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. Garoppolo has always shown talent in flashes, including during his time with the Patriots, but he's never started more than five games at a time. It'll be very interesting to see how he holds up during a full 16-game season. Here's to hoping he stays healthy, and that we finally get to see Shanahan's offense in its full form.
