It's only inevitable that every team is going to have some bad draft picks and it's no different for the Atlanta Falcons. Not many of these busts have come in the last few years, but there is still plenty to choose from throughout their history.

Let's breakdown the five biggest NFL busts in Falcons history.

5. Bubba Bean, 1976, Round 1, Pick 9

In 1976 the NFL was still a run-first league. In turn, they selected Bubba Bean to be the next great NFL running back. Bubba Bean was okay during his second season in the league, putting up 707 yards and three touchdowns, but that was the only real success he ever found in the NFL. In 1979,he rushed 88 times for 393 yards and a touchdown after being beat out in training camp by rookie William Andrews.

After the 1979 season, he never stepped foot on an NFL field again and officially retired in 1982.

4. Peter Konz, 2012, Round 2, Pick 55

Peter Konz would be higher on this list if he was drafted higher, but the hype around him was real. Many believed he was the best center and it didn't take him long to get his shot with the Falcons. After getting his shot, he had issues staying healthy, leading to him never getting into a groove on the offensive line.

The Falcons ended up releasing him in 2015 with an injury settlement.

3. Sam Baker, 2008, Round 1, Pick 21

Sam Baker was another player selected to sure up the offensive line to  help protect Matt Ryan (who was selected third overall in the same draft). Baker played okay in 2009 and 2010, but his play quickly fell off and he let Ryan get hit a lot. Baker did end up staying with the Falcons through the 2014 season, but the last two seasons in the league he only made four starts,

When people think of the 2008 draft they think of Matt Ryan, but the Falcons also had one of their worst picks in franchise history in the same round.

2. Jamaal Anderson, Round 1, Pick 8

Coming out of college, Jamaal Anderson was known as a guy who had elite skills getting to the passer. Instead of being that with the Falcons, he was a disappointment and only finished with 4,5 sacks with the team. Anderson did play four seasons with the team before getting the boot. He played one more full season with the Indianapolis Colts, and a partial season with the Cincinnati Bengals before hanging up the cleats.

1. Bruce Pickens, 1991, Round 1, Pick 3

The worst pick in Falcons history was Bruce Pickens, who was selected third overall in the 1991 draft. The hope was he could line up next to Deion Sanders and help make the Falcons secondary lockdown, but that never happened.

Pickens was consistently getting lost in coverage, and he only had two interceptions while on the team. After two seasons he was sent off to the Green Bay Packers. If Pickens would have worked out next to Sanders they might have gone down in history as one of the best secondaries in history. Instead, Pickens lands at number one on this list.
