The NFL season is nearly halfway complete, which means we are approaching the fantasy football trade deadline. At this point, everyone should have a decent feeling of what players are worth keeping and which ones are able to be had.

There are plenty of running backs who have disappointed that you have been wanting to trade. Maybe there's a running back who has started to take off but won't maintain his level of play.

That's exactly what this article is created for. Throughout this article, we will speak about the running backs who you should consider moving while his value is at its peak.

Most leagues' trade deadline comes around the middle of November. But it's never too early to begin bettering your team for the rest of the year.

5. Matt Breida

The San Francisco 49ers love to run the ball with Kyle Shanahan calling the plays. At the beginning of the season, when Tevin Coleman was out with an injury, Matt Breida was the lead back in San Francisco.

However, since Coleman's return to the field in Week 5, Breida's touches have begun to gradually decrease. Furthermore, in the past three games, Coleman has out-touched Breida 58-40.

Therefore, if you own Breida in fantasy, you should try using him as a trade piece while he's still relevant in fantasy. The first team to trade Breida to is the team that owns Coleman; one could use Breida as a handcuff.

4. Devonte Freeman

During the offseason, everyone was screaming Devonte Freeman's name as a possible comeback player in fantasy football for 2019. The Atlanta Falcons running back was returning as the starter and Tevin Coleman departed for San Francisco in free agency.

As a result, there were a ton of people who initially thought that they were getting a steal in fantasy drafts. The veteran running back got off to a slow start, scoring just 26 fantasy points in the first three games of the season.

On the other hand, he's been able to combine for 67.3 fantasy points in his last four games. Why get rid of him when he's finally gotten on track?

The Falcons are 1-6 and their upcoming schedule is brutal. Freeman has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (twice), New Orleans Saints (twice), and San Francisco 49ers remaining on his schedule. All of those teams are among the top four against running backs in fantasy football.

3. Chase Edmonds

In recent weeks, Chase Edmonds has become a hot commodity in fantasy football, with David Johnson nursing an ankle injury for the Arizona Cardinals.

Over the past three weeks, Edmonds has accumulated 67.3 fantasy points with a more prominent role. That includes last week's game against the New York Giants, which delivered 35 fantasy points.

Nevertheless, Johnson will return to being the starter. Edmonds' value is through the roof right now and it's likely that he won't see a larger workload than in Week 7.

Coming into Week 8, Johnson is a game-time decision and Edmonds could be the starter again. Even if he receives the start, the team's backup running back faces a stingy New Orleans Saints run defense.

2. Carlos Hyde

The Houston Texans are centered around Deshaun Watson and the aerial attack. Yet, Carlos Hyde has quietly become the 27th highest-scoring running back in fantasy.

From Week 4-6, the veteran rusher had three straight games with double-digit fantasy point performances. Then, in Week 7, he came back to Earth and scored a mere 3.5 fantasy points versus the Indianapolis Colts.

Hyde isn't going to get a larger return, but his value isn't going to get much better. His upcoming schedule doesn't bode well for him.

In the final 10 weeks of the season, Hyde will square off against the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans (twice), New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Denver Broncos. Those five teams are all in the top 10 defenses against running backs.

1. James Conner

Among the running backs who underwhelmed to begin the season, James Conner definitely upset his owners with his lack of production. He scored just 31.7 fantasy points in his first three games of the season.

Then, after some slight changes in the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense, Conner has been able to garner 68.9 fantasy points in his past three games. He scored 30.9 fantasy points in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Now, Conner will be the next lucky contestant to face the Miami Dolphins. Therefore, it's wise to wait until after Week 8 to begin offering Conner to other owners.

Following the Dolphins, Conner will face defenses that are stingy against the run: Colts, Rams, Cardinals, and Bills.
