The San Francisco 49ers are looking to make the most of their talented roster after a disappointing 2018 season. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's unfortunate injury was a dagger for the team after his dominant end this season prior. The front office made some moves this offseason, adding some talent on defense and hoping to return their winning ways from a handful of years ago.

Although the first half of the season holds some matchups that San Francisco could very well win, the second half is extremely tough, and they will be undoubtedly tested. The second half games are going to be ones to watch out for to see if the 49ers can compete with some of the best teams in the league.

Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Browns

Week 5 vs. Cleveland

This game will likely be a shootout if the 49ers offense can enter this game at full health. Pending Jimmy Garoppolo is back, and healthy, his gunslinging ability matched with Baker Mayfield should make for a potential top game of the 2019 season.

The Browns have a lot of stars on offense, so it's going to come down to San Francisco's defense to put a stop to all of Cleveland's playmakers including Nick Chubb and the wide receiver duo of Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers

Week 12 vs. Green Bay

Similar to the 49ers matchup, this game will likely be high scoring, and this could be an incredible quarterback showdown. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense will be tough to beat next season as new head coach Matt LaFleur will bring forth a new found explosiveness.

The 49ers will be tested by the Packers' new faces on defenses so Garoppolo will need to get the offense together to have a chance at winning this one. Green Bay appears to be one of the more complete teams as the 2019 season approaches, and this matchup sets the tone for a tough second half for San Francisco.

Week 13 in Baltimore

The Ravens defense has lost some big-time role players, but the schemes will be the same and Baltimore's defense is always amongst the league's best. This will be a big test for the 49ers offense, and the Ravens are extremely tough on their home turf.

Earl Thomas and the Ravens secondary are going to make things incredibly tough for Garoppolo, but after a year of sitting out and strengthening his mental game, Garoppolo should handle the pressure well. Baltimore's habit of always possessing a top defense will be put to the test against Kyle Shanahan and his unique offense.

Drew Brees, Saints

Week 14 in New Orleans

The Saints are one of the toughest teams on their home field so San Francisco could find themselves fighting from behind with Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara leading New Orleans offense. San Francisco's potentially high powered offense will have to play keep up with the Saints top offense as well as their strong defense.

The 49ers face off against what could be their toughest matchup in Week 14 as the Saints are favorites to make it back to the NFC Championship and possibly even the Super Bowl. New Orleans will give San Francisco a run for their money as they are nearly unstoppable at home. This game could be tremendous pending the 49ers play to their full potential.

Week 15 vs. Atlanta

Head coach Kyle Shanahan will get to play against the last team he coached for before getting the job with San Francisco. Shanahan led the Falcons offense to a Super Bowl appearance, and they were incredible despite falling short of a Super Bowl victory. The offense that Shanahan produced earned him a head coaching job, and he has turned things around to a certain extent with the 49ers.

The weapons are not quite there for San Francisco in comparison to what the Falcons possess, but Shanahan is out to prove he still has a great vision when it comes to offense. Unfortunately, Shanahan's head coaching career hasn't quite been as successful, but taking the job in the midst of a rebuild is the sole reason. This game will be exciting, and Shanahan will likely use flashes of his offense from his days in Atlanta against his former team.
