The New York Giants have a lot of options this season in the 2019 NFL draft, and while some choices may be more fitting for them at this point in time, this year's draft is flooded with talent.

The current Giants roster needs help just about everywhere aside from the running back position. The team traded away their franchise receiver by sending Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, so now running back Saquon Barkley appears to be the team's sole bright spot.

General manager David Gettleman has a chance to make things somewhat right in New York by making this year's draft as successful as possible. The picks the team should make have not changed since mock drafts have emerged, but it'll be interesting if the team addresses obvious needs.

Here are five players the Giants could take in this season's draft.

5. Dwayne Haskins, Quarterback, Ohio State

The Giants absolutely need a quarterback considering Eli Manning is at the tail end of his career, and all of their current backups seem unqualified to take over the starting job. Dwayne Haskins is a stud in every aspect a the quarterback position. While many teams are clambering to draft Kyler Murray at all costs this season, Haskins looks like the more complete quarterback.

Although the Giants have a plan this season with Manning as their starting quarterback, the future is murky beyond the 2019 season. Haskins could be the answer for the team going forward and a year developing under a Super Bowl winning quarterback will bode well for the young Buckeye.

4. Rashan Gary, Edge, Michigan

If for whatever reason the Giants decide to pass on Haskins and avoid the need to take a quarterback, they desperately need a pass rush. Michigan's Rashan Gary is arguably the best edge rusher in the draft and could easily be taken with the team's sixth overall pick.

Gary would fill the void that Olivier Vernon left behind and hopefully he can change the identity of the underachieving Giants defense. Giants fans will likely let out quite a groan and some boos if the team makes this pick, but Gary is an outstanding player that could give the defense a much needed boost.

3. Jonah Williams, Offensive line, Alabama

Another pick the Giants could potentially take with their sixth overall pick is Alabama's offensive lineman Jonah Williams. It's likely the team is not completely blind to the fact their offensive line needs an extreme amount of help. The Nate Solder signing failed last season and the team finally parted ways with Ereck Flowers, so Williams could provide some much needed blocking for running back Saquon Barkley as well as Manning.

Williams is said to be a solid option anywhere on the line and due to his versatility, he could fill in anywhere the Giants wish to place him. Although he is a prospect, the Giants need some kind of protection on the line or Manning's final season(s) are going to memorable for all the wrong reasons.

2. Clelin Ferrell, Edge, Clemson

New York could snag a player like Clemson's Clelin Ferrell to address the need for a pass rusher with their 17th overall pick. They ought to make this a pick Giants fans will like, because this is the selection that was dealt to them in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade so a popular fan choice could soften the blow a little bit.

Ferrell would be a steal at this point in the draft as he was once a projected top-10 pick, and although his combine numbers may not have jumped off the sheets, he offers undeniable value. The Giants could find themselves with a stud for their pass rush needs if they forego taking Rashan Gary earlier in the draft.

1. D.K. Metcalf, Wide receiver, Ole Miss

The chance to get a player like D.K. Metcalf is not something teams should overlook or take lightly. Metcalf is an athletic freak and his combine proved that. In addition, the Giants just traded quite the athletic pass catcher in OBJ, so adding Metcalf may help fans feel a little better about the trade. Alright that's probably not likely, but Metcalf should excite fans and gives Manning a big-bodied receiver to target next season.
