Everyone's attention is on the first-round draft picks, but most NFL teams are really made with the guys selected in the middle rounds. Tom Brady, Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown, Shannon Sharpe, and Joe Montano are some of the players who have been selected in the middle rounds that have turned into star players in the NFL.

Let's breakdown five players that could end up being steals in the NFL draft.

Alex Highsmith, Defensive End, Charlotte 49ers

One of the better stories in this draft is Alex Highsmith, and chances are not many have heard of him. Highsmith started his career at Charlotte as a walk-on, after turning down scholarship offers at Furman and Davidson. After having a limited role in the first few couple of years with Charlotte, he burst onto the scene and was a Senior he was a standout. He was named to first-team all-conference and finished the season with 14 sacks.

Shyheim Carter, Cornerback, Alabama Crimson Tide

Shyheim Carter has been buried because of all the stars on the Alabama Crimson Tide, but he is still a standout that is going to make some team better. He played in 49 games for the Crimson Tide, and excelled playing in the slot. For a team that is looking for a slot corner, he could be a steal. It will probably take a year or two to get him adjusted to the league, but the wait could be worth it.

Tony Brown, Wide Receiver, Colorado Buffaloes

Tony Brown didn't get a lot of attention at Colorado as he was overshadowed by Laviska Shenault but he still has a game that can transition to the next level. Brown finished the 2019 season catching 51 passes for  656 yards and five scores. He is good at catching the clutch pass and he does a good job of coming down with the jump balls.

Anthony Gordon, Quarterback, Washington Huskies

This is a strong quarterback class, but Anthony Gordon could be a late-round steal. Gordon set the Pac 12 record having thrown for 5,228 yards. Gardner Minshew was the steal of last year's draft, and maybe Gordon could be it for this season.

Denzel Mims, Wide Receiver, Baylor Bears

Denzel Mims was a former track standout and his speed is going to adjust to the next level, the big question is will everything else. He isn't a great route runner but for a fifth or sixth-round pick, that is expected. Some team is going to  get a steal by drafting Mims and he could be a game-changer.
