The MCU is finally back! Marvel's Black Widow has just been released earlier today in theatres and Disney+ and it had plenty of sweet Easter Eggs. So be warned as there are MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD!

Marvel’s Black Widow was supposed to kickoff of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But due to the pandemic, it got delayed. Disney even managed to release three MCU TV shows on Disney+ before Natasha took the spotlight on the big screen.

But who are we to complain? Black Widow was yet another great addition to the MCU. It was full of action, funny banter, and it gave us a deep dive into Natasha Romanoff's life before she was saving the universe with the Avengers. The best part? It gave us a hint as to what's coming next for the MCU going forward.

Was that Ursa Major in Black Widow?

The film also had tons of easter eggs. One of them is the mentioning of “Ursa”. During the prison scene with Alexei Shostakov a.k.a. The Red Guardian, he was telling a story as to how he was in a fierce battle with Captain America while arm wrestling with his fellow inmates. Suddenly, a big muscular man takes on Alexei's challenge and gets his hand broken in the process. “Are you calling me liar Ursa?” says Alexei as he breaks Ursa's hand. For those of you who don't know, Ursa Major (Mikhail Ursus) is the name of another Russian superhero in Marvel Comics, whose mutant power caused him to turn into a literal talking bear. Ursa Major is a staple member of the Soviet Super-Soldiers/Winter Guard along with a Red Guardian.

Are Mutants coming into the MCU?

During a confrontation between Black Widow and Dreykov, the villain explained how The Red Room was looking for “genetic potential in infants.” This could mean that they were either just talking about babies who have great potential to be assassins or perhaps they were looking for a certain “X-Factor”?

The Crimson Dynamo

In one scene, Yelena refers to Alexei as “the Crimson Dynamo.” Sure, this is cute, but there really was a Crimson Dynamo in Marvel Comics! Crimson Dynamo is primarily an Iron Man villain, lots of different Russian agents have worn the Crimson Dynamo armor. It…didn’t end well for any of them.

The original Crimson Dynamo was Anton Vanko, otherwise known as the old man dying at the beginning of Iron Man 2. Although his son was known as Whiplash, Ivan Vanko was more of a cross between Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo. In the comics, “Ivan” was an alias Anton used.

“Thank you for your cooperation”

In the same scene during the confrontation between Natasha and Dreykov, the Black Widow utters her famous line which is clearly a nod to the first Avengers film. She also said the exact same words to Loki when she was trying to interrogate the villain.

The Post-Credits Scene

In the last few minutes of the movie, we caught a glimpse of Yelena visiting the late Black Widow's grave. As she was paying her respects, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine makes an appearance. Apparently, Hawkeye is now the one to blame for Natasha's death. This might be the premise of the upcoming Hawkeye show from Disney+. The character first appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. If we had to hazard a guess, she’s putting together a team of “Dark Avengers” or “Thunderbolts” for the MCU. It is also confirmed that Yelena is going to appear in the upcoming Hawkeye series, as well.

Black Widow was an amazing ride and a truly great addition to the MCU. The film is available for streaming now on Disney+ and select theatres nationwide. Want more Marvel content? Check out this article where we also spotted easter eggs for Loki episode 5.
