Thanks to a viral photo, the Orlando Magic found themselves in the news for all of the wrong reasons on Monday. And now on Tuesday, the Magic are in full blown reaction mode.

The photo taken by the agent of Patricio Garino, who was excited for his client to sign his first NBA contract, showed a whiteboard that listed in detail Orlando's plans for the 0ff-season. Magic GM Rob Hennigan downplayed the photo, saying that it was simply a list of options and not a definite plan. But while that may be the case, the photo did cause Magic coach Frank Vogel to meet with forward Aaron Gordon, who was listed in a column in the photo as a possibly trade chip in a deal to acquire Sixers rookie Dario Saric.

From the Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins:

“Typically, with rumors and stuff like that, we don’t really address them,” Vogel said today when asked about the photo. “But this is a unique situation, and I talked to him a little bit this morning, and everybody’s good. We’re ready to move on.”

Vogel and Gordon would not divulge what they said during their meeting.

“It was definitely something that I wasn’t aware of before,” Gordon said today when asked about the dry-erase board’s content.

“It wasn’t for me to see, so for me to see something like that, it brings something that’s out of my control into my reality. But that’s neither here nor there. My plan and my focus is to play basketball and to enjoy the game of basketball. Anything other than that is out of my control. I love this organization and I’m going to continue to work hard and play.”

When asked how difficult it is to put it out of his mind, Gordon responded, “Obviously, I know that it’s there, but I just play the game. I trust my skills. I love my teammates. So with that, I can just play.”

Both Gordon's and Vogel's reactions aren't that surprising. They both are just trying to move forward from it and put the photo in the past as quickly as possibly. But as evidenced by Vogel meeting with Gordon, the photo clearly was an issue for the the team and they felt the need to address it internally.

The main issue here is that with Gordon being so young (21 years old) his confidence and general attitude could've taken a hit seeing his name as possibly being involved in a trade. This is not something you want one of your young stars to experience and could possibly create a seed of discontent in Gordon. The Magic have struggled to recruit talent in free agency and also have not adequately developed their young talent, so if Gordon feels like they don't want him there and demands a trade, that will put Orlando in a difficult spot.

But it is promising for the Magic that Gordon is at least telling the media the right things and is expressing a commitment to the franchise. Gordon is one of the few brights spots on the Magic and they will need him to be happy if they want to continue to build around him moving forward.
