AEW x NJPW's Forbidden Door is a card for the ages. With nine matches on the books and 28 wrestlers – and counting – set to compete for seven different championship belts, fans will find themselves entertained for hours once the show officially goes underway at 8 pm EST.

But hey, just because the Pay-Per-View officially starts at 8 doesn't mean that's when the wrestling begins. No, like every other AEW Pay-Per-View, there will be a pre-show, which begins at 7 and will feature three matches and, presumably, much of the build-up content that was broadcast on TNT and YouTube in the Countdown to Forbidden Door special.

So, as fans prepare themselves to be entertained for the rest of the night, why not sit back, grab a bite, and learn three fun facts about the pre-show before it can officially get started either via your cable provider or on YouTube? Could be fun, right?

3 fun facts about AEW's Forbidden Door pre-show.

3. Max Caster is not on the Forbidden Door poster

Despite being a featured player in the first announced pre-show match of Forbidden Door, Max Caster is not on the event's poster. But hey, it's cool, he's clearly fine with it, as, being the self-proclaimed “Ace of America” he's happy to put others first and do his part on the card even if it doesn't generate the hardlines. A hero's a hero even if they don't earn the proper recognition.

… on a more serious note, this isn't the first eight-man tag match to feature members of the NJPW LA Dojo on a New Japan show, as five of Shibata's students: Alex Coughlin, Clark Connors, Karl Fredericks, Kevin Knight, and Yuya Uemura took on The Factory in a winning effort on AEW Dark back on May 1st. Can they bring their record to 2-0 in Billy Gunn's first match teaming with Max Caster?

Yo! Listen! I kind of doubt it.

2. This isn't Hirooki Goto or YOSHI-HASHI's first match in Chicago

Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI have 31 years of combined in-ring experience, with literally thousands of matches under their collective belts. They've wrestled all over Japan, in Mexico, and have even gone of runs through the United States, including one match each in the greater Chicagoland area, including one match each in Illinois, where Goto beat Hikuleo in 2019, and YOSHI-HASHI failing to take the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title away from Kenny Omega in 2017.

Fortunately, with a match booked against The Factory members QT Marshall and Aaron Solo booked for Forbidden Door, the duo look to secure easy Ws in their second match in the Windy City.

1. Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee have wrestled together since their fallout at the Casino Battle Royal

If you only watch AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage, you might be wondering why Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee are tagging together in a pre-show match versus members of Suzuki-Gun when they had a major falling out during the Interim Championship Casino Battle Royal. If you fall into that camp, you might be surprised to know that this is actually the third match booked after that particular show at the “Fabulous KIA” Forum back at the beginning of June, with the duo currently known as Swerve in our Glory securing wins over the duo of Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett in St. Louis and again in a win over GPA and Vic Capari in Milwaukee in the leadup to Forbidden Door.

While only time will tell if the Casino Battle Royal elimination was the beginning of the end for the duo or merely a bump in the road in their glorious run, it will still be nice to see them tag again a month removed from taking part in one of the best bouts on the Double or Nothing card.
