When news broke that there was a Bryan Danielson speaking segment scheduled for this week's edition of AEW Dynamite, it left more than a few fans worried about what he had to say. Was “The American Dragon” going to announce his opponent at Forbidden Door? Or would he instead inform fans that he's just too injured to compete at the show, or in Blood and Guts, AEW's answer to WarGames that is scheduled for the Dynamite immediately following the show? *gasp* could Danielson be… retiring? Sure, he's taken hits over the past few months but he can't be done, done, right?

Unfortunately, the answer to the question was the middle option: Danielson is out for the foreseeable future, as he's not medically cleared to wrestle and will thus, be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Bad news for the man formerly known as Daniel Bryan, for his presumed opponent at Forbidden Door, Zach Sabre Jr., and for wrestling fans the world over who wanted to see Danielson in the ring against the other best technical wrestler in the world. But hey, there was at least a minor silver lining in a sea of misery: Danielson has a replacement lined up to face ZSJ at Forbidden Door show.

Woah, a mystery! If there's one thing wrestling fans like, it's a mystery, as it gives them the better part of a week to theorize about who would fill Danielson's shoes. Could it be Wheeler Yuta? Minoru Suzuki? The man formerly known as Cesaro? Goodness, this is going to be fun.
