NIL- or name, image and likeness- has taken the college football world by storm recently, with some concerns emerging about its involvement in the recruiting process. Last July, the NCAA softened its stance on player endorsements, lifting most of the rules barring college athletes from doing so. Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies made waves at National Signing Day in February when they reeled in four five-star recruits and 22 players ranked inside ESPN's Top 300. Fisher and the Aggies were the target of NIL accusations, as many, including Alabama's Nick Saban, were skeptical of the recruiting process in College Station. Saban wasn't done with Texas A&M apparently, as he fired another shot at the university on Thursday, as reported by the Associated Press.

“You read about it, you know who they are. We were second in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness. We didn’t buy one player. But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future, because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.”

Saban didn't hold back, saying that Alabama placed second in college football recruiting to Texas A&M, who he said “bought every player on their team.” Shots fired by the Crimson Tide head coach.

Fisher, of course, went on a lengthy rant after National Signing Day, calling Saban and any other coach throwing NIL accusations at the Aggies “clowns.”

But the Alabama head coach isn't letting up, throwing another shot at Fisher and the Aggies in the aftermath of the NCAA's recent press release, which reminded teams to keep boosters and NIL deals out of the college football recruiting process.

College football fans should circle October 8 on their calendars, the day that Alabama and Texas A&M go head-to-head in the 2022 season.
