A former Alabama quarterback has been the talk of the NFL this week with Tua Tagovailoa being named the starter in Miami, but there could be a new Crimson Tide quarterback with first-round buzz in the 2021 NFL Draft.

On the daily Locked On Bama podcast, hosts Luke Robinson and Jimmy Stein discussed the first round buzz that Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is starting to receive.

Robinson: I saw a first-round mock draft today that had Mac Jones going in the first round to the Chicago Bears of all people. A first-round grade blew me away, but looking at the Bears, I think that Mac Jones is better than Mitchell Trubisky but it seems like they kind of have the same characteristics, so I’m not sure Chicago would go that round but regardless, I thought it was interesting that he is mocked in the first round.

Stein: That’s one opinion. I love mock drafts. I love them. I read every one of them. I take them all seriously but you just can’t take them as gospel. You got to look where they come from. Ask Jimmy Stein who the top 15 players at Alabama are and I’m going to entertain you and I’m going to have an opinion and an idea. It’ll be an educated opinion but it’ll be different than Bob Welton who handles player personnel at Alabama or if you ask Nick Saban, those guys are going to have a lot more information. These mock drafts come from Jimmy Steins, not Nick Saban's. There’s a lot of meat left on the bone on where Mac might go in the draft, but I think it's cool. I think it’s extremely interesting.
