Alabama wide receiver and Heisman Trophy candidate DeVonta Smith got the Crimson Tide on the board early in their College Football Playoff semifinal against Notre Dame.

Smith took a bubble screen from quarterback and fellow Heisman candidate Mac Jones, getting to the sideline and breezing past Fighting Irish defenders before getting into the end zone to start the Rose Bowl scoring.

The star duo made it look easy on the opening drive:

Seeing Smith in the end zone has been a familiar sight for Alabama fans this year.

Smith was one of the best receivers in college football in 2019, but he really became the team's No. 1 receiver after Jaylen Waddle went down early in the year. He has not looked back.

The Associated Press College Football Player of the Year has 17 receiving touchdowns and 18 total touchdowns this season. Smith also came into Friday's game with 98 receptions for 1,511 yards. He is still adding to his Heisman resume as the Crimson Tide look to win their first national title since the 2017 season.

Smith is one of the top receivers in a stacked draft class at the wide receiver position. He very well could be the first receiver off the board, depending on whether LSU wideout Ja'Marr Chase's stock has dropped at all after Chase opted out of the 2020 season.

Alabama quickly made it 14-0 with another touchdown in the first quarter, so Notre Dame already has its work cut out for them in this one.
