Amid the Boston Red Sox’s roller-coaster start to the 2022 season, J.D. Martinez has continued to be among the more reliable contributors within their lineup.

Martinez is just coming off of a stout performance in Boston’s 16-7 series finale win against the Chicago White Sox. He recorded three hits in the contest, as he raised his batting average on the season to an MLB-leading .380.

From Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s standpoint, as he noted after the victory over the White Sox, he has not seen the veteran slugger play at a higher level than what he has viewed from him as of late.

“The best I’ve seen him,” Cora said.

As Cora further added, Martinez has simply been quite a versatile hitter at the plate, which sure has added another dimension to his offensive production.

“The quality of the at-bats, two-strike hits, going the other way,” Cora said. “It has been impressive.

“It seems like everything he hits right now, he’s hitting right on the barrel. Using the whole field.”

Martinez has been among the more keen hitters in all the American League in the month of May, posting a .443 batting average to go along with 13 RBI tallied through 21 games played.

The Red Sox have continued to turn the tide on their season, winning seven of their last eight games. They will have a golden opportunity to move over the .500 mark in their upcoming four-game home series against the Baltimore Orioles.
