Derrick Rose is one of eight players in NBA history to have at least 10 consecutive signature shoes with a brand. That's what happens when you're the youngest MVP in league history. Rose joins Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Allen Iverson and Kevin Durant as the only players to have that title.

Rose was always a Nike kid growing up, but when he went to Memphis for one season to play for John Calipari, he was turned into an Adidas guy. The Chicago native negotiated with Adidas and Nike and wound up signing with Adidas before starting his pro career.

The Chicago Bulls selected Rose with the first overall pick in the 2008 draft after winning the draft lottery in magical fashion. During his rookie season with the Bulls, Rose averaged 16.8 points and 6.3 assists, en route to winning the Rookie of the Year Award.

The following season, Rose put up 20.8 points and 6.0 assists and became the first Bulls player since Jordan to make the All-Star team. Adidas could sense that Derrick was about to blow up on the national stage.

So, the company gave Derrick Rose his first signature shoe ahead of his third season in the league and the rest is history.

Rose averaged 25.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists this season while also leading the Bulls to the best record in the NBA. He was the only player in the league who ranked in the top 10 in both points per game and assists in 2010-11.

Rose's second shoe came out in October of 2011. The star wanted a shoe that he could wear off the court as well since he was making the shoe for kids who couldn't afford two pairs of kicks. Rose grew up in the most dangerous neighborhood in Chicago, so he never forgot where he came from. He was always looking out for his community.

Just like he did with the first version, Rose released an adizero Rose 2.5 for the 2012 All-Star game in Orlando. This was the first shoe to feature Rose's logo on it.

Also at Orlando All-Star weekend, Rose signed a 14-year extension with Adidas. With incentives, the contract is worth $260 million.

Rose had a “Brenda colorway” of this shoe to honor his mom. Derrick's mom is named Brenda.
