On his Instagram, NBA icon Allen Iverson posted a photo of him and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, captioned with a brief yet heartfelt message.

Several weeks before the first death anniversary of Bryant, Iverson rekindled his friendship and rivalry with the Lakers star in an Instagram post with a simple caption.

Like most former and current NBA players, Iverson is still reeling from the death of Bryant and eight others in a helicopter crash last year. Like them, Iverson has posted a message, photo, or a full narrative that showed what type of person Bryant was.

On what would've been Bryant's 42nd birthday, Iverson penned a long letter on the Players' Tribune. In it, he shared his initial thoughts on Bryant and reminiscences of their rivalry during their time in the NBA.

Where’d the time go, man? That first trip out to L.A. feels like it was just yesterday. We were just kids, with everything in front of us.

“What you getting up to later?”

“I’m going to the club.”

“I’m going back to the gym.”

I’ll never forget that.

Iverson and Bryant actually entered the league at the same time. In the 1996 NBA Draft, Iverson was the first overall pick while Bryant was the 13th. They met in the NBA Finals once in 2001. While the Lakers won, many were in awe that Iverson was able to lead the 76ers to a Game 1 victory against the powerhouse Lakers squad.
