This weekend marked the beginning of something new when the debut of rapper and actor Ice Cube‘s BIG3 league in Brooklyn began at Barclays Center.

One of the most anticipated and biggest names in the league is a generation's beloved star Allen Iverson who seemed to retire from the NBA sooner than he had originally planned.

The Answer, probably the most recognized star in the new 3-on-3 league, played a few minutes scoring on just one bucket before taking himself out, although his team 3's Company won the game.

One teammate of Iverson revealed that he hasn't worked out much due to the fact that he recently decided to play in the games. When asked how he felt after his debut, Iverson replied “42 and retired“. The crowd roared when he came into the game, chanted and booed as he sat on the bench never to return to the court for the night.

Speaking with The Undefeated, Iverson insisted he wasn't needed in the game and had no issue watching with everyone else.

“The best part about this game here tonight and all the other games, it was exciting all throughout,”Iverson said. It didn’t need Allen Iverson the player, per se.

The 42-year old Iverson who stands as the face of the league will be around for the full 10-week season, but issued a warning to those looking to cheer on the same young MVP caliber kid who routinely crossed over tough defenders with ease.

“I signed up to be a coach, player and captain. Coach part is going to go on throughout the game. Playing part is not going to be what you expect. You’re not going to see the Allen Iverson of old out there.”

Eight teams are set to square off again on July 2nd in Charlotte North Carolina where you will see Iverson's 3s Company team play against the Ghost Ballers.
