Despite the skill-for-skill comparison that Finals MVP Kevin Durant made between Allen Iverson and Kyrie Irving on The Bill Simmons Podcast, giving the latter the edge in it, the Philadelphia 76ers legend had nothing but great things to say about the newly-crowned champion.

Iverson, who has become the face of the BIG3 league that tips off in 10 days, was shown a tweet of him watching Game 5 of the NBA Finals and loving every moment of it with kid-like joy.

“I wanted to see Durant win because he ain’t never did it. I love his mama. I love everything he stands for. That’s the only reason I was going for Golden State. I wanted Durant to feel what I never got the chance to feel. And they deserve it. I wanted (Charles) Barkley to feel it. I wanted (Patrick) Ewing to feel it. Because LeBron (James) is gonna win some more.”

These comments were made prior to Durant's generational comparison going public, but even if he had heard of it — it's doubtful he would change his mind about who he chose to root for.

Unlike many former players chomping at the bits to discredit Durant for his choice to come to Golden State and his supporting cast, Iverson was just another fan enjoying basketball and picking a dog in the fight — a refreshing sight to witness in a media-crazed postseason.
