Rolling by Tulsa, Oklahoma in the third week of the BIG3 league, headlining legend Allen Iverson was drawn to memories of his favorite player, Russell Westbrook, upon a stop at the BOK Center.

“Incredible,” Iverson said of Westbrook's MVP season, according to Erik Horne of The Oklahoman. “He's my favorite player in the league. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the guy. I think the MVP was well deserved. I called it early in the season. It was an epic moment for us fans.”

Now retired and a self-admitted fan of the game, Iverson watched as his favorite player moved past Oscar Robertson‘s all-time record and posted 42 triple-doubles in one season, along with being the first player to average on for a season since “The Big O” did in the 1961-62 season.

“I think it's something that we may not see again for years to come,” said Iverson, who earned MVP honors in 2001. “It's something that we thought might never happen. I didn't ever think it would happen on this level, so that tells you what type of player he is and how great he is.”

Westbrook led the league in scoring with 31.6 points per game, including 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, shouldering the burden and carrying the Thunder to the playoffs after his former running mate Kevin Durant made the move to the Golden State Warriors.

The 28-year-old came to the arena in support of the BIG3, immediately showered with chants of “MVP” upon his arrival.
