The Detroit Pistons clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2009, but it wasn't all smiles and excitement for everyone during the game.

While the Pistons were closing out the Washington Wizards, center Andre Drummond was seen sort of sulking on the sidelines. While four of the five starters saw over 34 minutes on the night, Drummond saw just 25 minutes and finished with eight points and four rebounds on 3-10 shooting.

After creating a firestorm in the media for this, Drummond came out and publicly apologized for his actions.

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports on Drummond's apology.

“Age doesn’t matter; I’ve been here for four years,” Drummond, 22, said. “That’s unacceptable what I did — no matter what the circumstances were. So I did apologize, and something like that won’t happen again, because it was selfish on my part. I should have celebrated with my teammates.

Drummond was seen avoiding the team huddles and then head coach Stan Van Gundy had to lift him up himself, which was also a pretty poor sight.

“Everybody’s watching. All types of videos came out. I didn’t pay it any mind because I knew what was really going on with me, but to the untrained eye, it looked like something different.”

The Pistons play their final home game tonight against Miami before facing a possible first round opponent in the Cleveland Cavaliers in their regular season finale tomorrow.
