Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expects small forward Andre Iguodala to be ready for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The Finals start on May 30. The veteran swingman suffered a left calf injury in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors sat Iguodala in Game 4 for precaution.

Iguodala is averaging 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in the 2019 playoffs. He’s shooting 52.2 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from beyond the arc. The Warriors started Alfonzo McKinnie in Game 4 against the Blazers. The Chicago native put up 12 points in 26 minutes while shooting 5-of-12 overall and 1-of-5 from the 3-point line.

The Warriors are playing in their fifth straight NBA Finals since Kerr became the head coach in 2014. Iguodala was the 2015 Finals MVP when the Dubs defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers for their first title. The Warriors are looking to win their third consecutive championship and fourth ring in five years.

Golden State will face the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks-Toronto Raptors series. By sweeping the Blazers in the conference finals, the Warriors gave themselves over a week off, allowing Iguodala, Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins to recover from their ailments.

Golden State could be rusty in Game 1 of the Finals since they have had so much time off, but Kerr is probably doing a good job of keeping the players engaged in practice.
