The bronze medal game between Australia and Spain went down to the wire as Spain squeaked by a 89-88 win on Sunday. However, Australia’s center Andrew Bogut was not having it after the game and went off on the referees for numerous controversial calls including the blocking foul on Patty Mills in the final seconds of play. The blocking foul called on Patty Mills resulted in Spain making two key free-throws, which would carry them to win the game. Many fans and viewers believed that Patty Mills made very minimal contact and shouldn’t have been called for the foul. The controversial call robbed Australia of their first ever medal in men’s Olympic basketball.
