Adding to their staple of young talent, the Minnesota Timberwolves used their fifth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft to select Kris Dunn out of Providence. With point guards Zach LaVine and Ricky Rubio ahead of him, Dunn can learn a lot and grow into a great NBA player.

One Timberwolves player that is excited to see what Dunn can do is shooting guard Andrew Wiggins. In his eyes, Dunn is a more athletic version of Rubio, but without the experience.

As Wiggins told Omari Sankofa of Sports Illustrated:

“[Kris] can do a couple different things. He’s more athletic, he’s probably quicker. But he’s a young point guard and Ricky’s been in the league for a very long time. So Ricky obviously has an advantage. Ricky has been leading this team at the point guard position for a very long time now. He’s a vet. Ricky knows all of our tendencies, what we like to do, where we like the ball and stuff like that. That’s something, obviously, that Kris Dunn’s going to have to learn in training camp. That’s where it happens.”

Minnesota is certainly one of those most exciting young teams going into next season. With the last two Rookie of the Years in Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, plus LaVine, sophomore Tyus Jones, and now Dunn, the young core is as athletic as any team in the association.
