The Los Angeles Angels are off to a terrific start in 2022. The Angels are currently in first place in the AL West and are playing a quality brand of baseball. Mike Trout is back to smashing baseballs and Shohei Ohtani is doing his thing on the mound and at the plate. However, Angels's fans held were forced to hold their breath on Sunday when Ohtani was removed early from the game after suffering a groin injury.

Ohtani remained confident that the injury was not serious. He even proclaimed that he was going to play the next day. But players tend to be optimistic most of the time when it comes to injury issues. Although Ohtani's message was hopeful, there was still concern around the two-way phenom.

But Joe Maddon's most recent comments in regards to Shohei Ohtani makes it seem as if he truly did avoid any form of serious injury.

Even though Ohtani is not expected to play Monday, Joe Maddon hopes to have Ohtani pitch against the Red Sox. If there was even the slightest hint of risk the Angels would play it safe. The last thing they want to do is risk a long-term injury to their superstar. So this update is extremely promising without question.

The Angels will look to keep up their strong play against the Red Sox. Los Angeles has not reached the postseason since 2014 but they are hoping to end the drought in 2022.

We should expect to see Shohei Ohtani on the field at some point during the Angels' series with the Red Sox.
