Even as Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has been sidelined due to a calf strain injury, he at the least has had a front-row seat to watch American League MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani has not been racking up video-game numbers from the plate in August, especially as he has recorded a mere three home runs in this month. But he will have a grand opportunity to shine in the Angels' series finale against the Cleveland Indians, as the two teams will be facing off in the 2021 MLB Little League Classic from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

As Trout recently touched upon, he sure hopes Ohtani will put on a show in front of the many youth baseball players who will be in attendance at the game.

“If it’s anything like the reactions he gets at every ballpark, I’m sure it’ll be pretty exciting,” Trout said. “And all the teams are going to look forward to seeing him on the field. I’ve never seen anything like it. He threw eight innings and homered [Wednesday] and now he has 40 of them. It’s pretty amazing. And obviously, there’s all this stuff about him on the field, but he’s an even better person.”

Ohtani has so far put together a season for the ages. Not only does he lead the league in home runs with an astounding 40, but he has also posted a standout 2.79 ERA to go along with 120 strikeouts recorded over 100 innings pitched.

It seems as if every time he accomplishes a historic feat, he manages to do something that no baseball player has done in decades.

Ohtani has already delivered in high leverage moments several times this season, whether it was his go-ahead home run against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park or his impressive inning of work in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. Now, in a nationally televised game at the home of the Little League World Series, he will have another opportunity to shine as baseball's biggest star.
