Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout has reached the point of his career where it seems as if in every week, he manages to accomplish a historic feat. He did just that in the Angels’ home contest against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

Trout logged the 900th walk of his career during the matchup, with 35 of them coming in the ongoing season. He now sits at a mere 71 walks away from surpassing Tim Salmon (970) for the most walks in Angels franchise history.

Overall, Trout became the first player in MLB history to record at least 300 home runs, 200 stolen bases, and 900 walks by their age-30 season.

This feat is quite impressive considering that Baseball Hall of Fame outfielder Mickey Mantle and seven-time National League MVP Award winner Barry Bonds did not reach this achievement over their respective runs in the majors.

On the heels of his 0-26 slump, Trout has been able to get back on track as of late for the Angels. Over his last 15 games, he has recorded nine home runs and 17 RBI to go along with a .340 batting average.

In the big picture, Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez and New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge are among the current early favorites for the 2022 American League MVP Award. Still, one can not rule out the possibility of Trout orchestrating a keen surge in the coming weeks to emerge as the frontrunner in this race.
