Even with the 2021 MLB regular season now mere days away from coming to a close, Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani is still bolstering his 2021 American League MVP Award resume.

Coming into the Angels' road game against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, Ohtani sat at 24 stolen bases on the season, which was already a career-high for him by a considerable amount. The two-way talent recorded the 25th and 26th stolen bases of his season during the contest.

In what has been a season filled with milestone after milestone, Ohtani joined elite company after notching the 25th stolen base of his campaign. Ohtani became the second-ever American League player and overall sixth in MLB history to record at least 45 home runs and 25 stolen bases in a season, joining the likes of Alfonso Soriano (2006) and Barry Bonds (1993) in this notable list.

To take it up a notch, the Angels slugger also became the first player in American League history to record at least 45 home runs, 25 stolen bases and 100 runs in a season.

Ohtani's list of impressive feats this season is quite lengthy, as he has managed to reach notable milestones both on the mound and at the plate. More so, he has submitted his candidacy to be the face of baseball.

As it stands, the Angels star is still the presumed favorite to win the 2021 AL MVP Award later this year barring any surprises. Regardless of whether he comes away with the award, this season from him sure has been one for the ages in baseball history.
