Animal Crossing and Sanrio fans woke up to a very bad morning this Friday, March 26. The Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards were immediately out of stock, very early at launch.

ANIMAL CROSSING SANRIO AMIIBO CARDS SOLD OUT

The Target-exclusive Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards have gone out of stock so quickly at launch. The amiibo cards would have unlocked exclusive and unique Hello Kitty-themed villagers and items in the game. However, stocks quickly ran out as scalpers and hardcore fans immediately bought their fill. Those scalpers who managed to get their hands on some have been selling the amiibo cards for exorbitant amounts. One listing is selling all of the six amiibo cards for $333. To add some context, each one has an SRP of $5.99.

This isn't the first time scalpers prevented gamers from playing what they want. In fact, with the pandemic limiting movements and most sales have gone entirely online, scalping has gone up. For Sony's PlayStation 5, for example, it's been found that one in every ten units was purchased from scalpers.

Ordering the Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards may be impossible right now. However, some people reportedly went ahead to buy the amiibo cards in-store on Target after they failed to buy online. You need to be quick though, as supplies are running out fast even in physical stores.

Meanwhile, some fans have taken their frustrations to Twitter. Most have taken their disappointment in stride, making fun of themselves and the situation they found themselves in.

While this collaboration will only last for a limited time, we do hope that the Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards will be made available again. Hopefully, both Nintendo and Sanrio can see how much demand there is for their toys. We hope that Nintendo's future collaborations won't meet the same problems. Much less for their rumored new console.
