Anthony Davis may be playing the best basketball of his career so far this season, but it has not translated to a lot of wins for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Even with impressive averages of 29.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.6 blocks, his team is still outside the top eight in the Western Conference with a 14-22 record.

One of the reasons for their slow start this campaign is the lack of production from their bench leaving most of the scoring load squarely on Davis and Jrue Holiday‘s shoulders. The team also does not have a reliable center that can provide a strong inside presence for them which has caused their three-time All-Star to play the five spot the past few games.

Despite Davis not playing his natural position, he has held his own against the other centers of the league and helped his team win majority of those games. He recently spoke about the position change he's going through and made it clear he doesn't mind sacrificing as long as the Pelicans win.

“I try to do whatever I have to do. I don't mind playing the 5 with the small lineup, because I know it's been helping us. Just sacrifice for the team. At the 5 you probably won't get the ball as much, won't score as much, but we're winning so I really don't care.”

The New Orleans faithful should definitely see this as a good sign for them as their superstar forward is not complaining and only continues to play his game for the benefit of the team.

If he'll be able to help sustain the recent success of the Pelicans, he can give the squad a huge chance to compete for a playoff spot as there are still a lot of games left to play this season.
