New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis suffered a right ankle sprain on Wednesday during their second exhibition game against the Houston Rockets in Beijing, China.

The injury occurred only six minutes into the game when the 6-foot-10 forward accidentally stepped on the foot of Rockets' center Nene.

This is certainly a huge blow for the Pelicans as Davis just recovered from a season-ending knee injury last March. His fans are looking forward to the Kentucky product having a bounce-back season after not being named an All-Star last year and lead the team back to the playoffs.

Although the 23-year-old averaged very impressive numbers in the 2015-2016 campaign with 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 35.5 minutes per game, he was forced to miss the last 21 games of the regular season due to a stress reaction in his left knee cap, and also a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The team could not overcome his absence and were only able to win a total of 30 games, which is their fourth worst season in franchise history.

With a retooled roster and the addition of this year's sixth-overall pick, Buddy Hield, the New Orleans faithful are hoping to see their star forward back in action soon. Should he recover quickly from the ankle sprain, he is expected to lead the young Pelicans squad and make some noise in the Western Conference.
