With a huge smile on his face and the glistening Larry O'Brien trophy by his side, Los Angeles Lakers star forward Anthony Davis came in as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a few days ago. It was just a few hours after they won the NBA title over the Miami Heat so he was still clearly on a high.

AD reflected on what has been a topsy-turvy, drama-filled season, starting with the controversy in China during the preseason and culminating with the Purple and Gold's 17th championship and Davis' first.

“It all came full circle. It's crazy because October 9th, we would have travelled to China for a preseason game. So we've been at it a full calendar year trying to get to this moment, and it's very special when we got here.”

The seven-time All-Star also proudly talked about his relationship with the late Lakers legend. He shared how they got close when they were teammates on Team USA during the 2012 London Olympics, and shared an anecdote on one of his favorite moments of them together.

“There's a photo of me and him on the bench in one of the games and he's looking down my shirt because I forgot to put my jersey on. So he told me about not forgetting your jersey, ‘How do you want to be great and show people what you can do if you don't have a jersey on?'”

It's no secret that the Lakers dedicated the season to the Black Mamba after his tragic passing in January.

“He means a lot to the organization, to the team, he's touched everyone, and the whole city (of Los Angeles). It's been an honor.”

The Lakers free agent Davis, who averaged 25.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in the NBA Finals, is reportedly planning to opt-out of his contract and re-sign with the Los Angeles this offseason.
