There is still a desire to play in the NFL from Antonio Brown but teams have strayed away from trying to sign him lately. However, the league office is still investigating civil allegations of sexual assault and rape and it remains unclear when those investigations will conclude.

Brown posted a tweet on Tuesday morning saying ‘Free AB' and that is likely in reference to the league office's investigations that remain ongoing.

There was a recent report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN that Brown ‘hopes' to have his playing status resolved before attempting to sign with a team. He would also wouldn't oppose a return to the New England Patriots despite the possibility of that happening remain unlikely.

“Sources told Fowler that Brown would wait to sign with a team until it is clear he would be allowed to play. He's also been training rigorously and would welcome a return to the New England Patriots, even if that's unlikely, but most of all, he says he just wants to play.”

The fall from grace has been quite significant for Brown. He totaled an impressive 837 receptions, 11,207 receiving yards, and 74 receiving touchdowns in 130 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since forcing his way out of the Steel City, he has played in just one NFL game before being released.

It remains to be seen when Brown could potentially return to professional football or which teams would be interested in signing him. The only certainty at this point is that the ongoing investigation by the league office will need to conclude before a return was to take place.
