With the season right around the corner, the AP Top 25 preseason college football poll has been released! For the first edition of the college football rankings, there aren't too many surprises.

It comes as no surprise to see Alabama check in at No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll coming off a national championship season. Despite the fact that they will be replacing a lot of their offense including: Mac Jones, Najee Harris, Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith, the Crimson Tide are restocked and ready to go with a new group. Being atop the college football rankings is nothing new for Nick Saban's squad.

Iowa State and Cincinnati are back-to-back in the polls at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Both are dark horse candidates to blow up the college football playoff and crash the party.

On the backend of the Top 25 are a couple of teams outside of the traditional power conferences. Coastal Carolina checks in at No. 22 and Louisiana-Lafayette is No. 23.

Outside of the regulars in Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma and Ohio State, who always seem to be in the playoff hunt, many are expecting big things from the Georgia Bulldogs this year. J.T. Daniels is back at quarterback and they have tons of starters returning on both sides of the ball. Georgia is No. 5 in these initial college football rankings and they have a Week 1 date with Clemson that will certainly have plenty of fans tuned in.

It's always interesting to look at the first college football rankings and compare them with the ones at the end of the year. The Coaches Poll came out last week and now we have the AP Poll on Monday. While there will be plenty of shifting, a lot usually stays the same in college football as well. Let's get to Week 1 already!
