Several notable players are currently set to become free agents in next year's summer transfer window, including Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.

The French talent is currently in the final season of the five-year deal he signed with the Gunners over the 2017 summer transfer window.

There has been chatter over the year on Lacazette possibly coming to terms with Arsenal on a new extension deal. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta noted in April that the forward's future at the club would be addressed in the summer, but not much has changed over the past months.

Arteta is now once again addressing Lacazette's uncertain future with the Gunners, as he noted during a press conference ahead of his team's Premier League fixture against Aston Villa that this dilemma is one that the club simply has to deal with for now.

“It’s the situation that we have and we have to accept it,” Arteta said. “I cannot ask anything from the player with the way he’s dealing with that situation. It’s not an individual situation, it’s a situation that has a knock on effect on others that we have to deal with in the past as well and still now to see what the best option is going to be for everybody this season.”

Lacazette has recently been linked with the likes of Juventus and Barcelona for a possible move in the winter transfer window, although it is currently not known whether either club has plans to go all out to sign him.

Even as Lacazette is slated to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, Arteta did not rule out the possibility of the club soon reaching an agreement with the forward for an extension deal.

“Anything is possible,” Arteta said.

“It depends on a lot of things. It’s not just a matter of being willing. Is it possible to fulfill that will and when? This is very important.”

The veteran French forward has so far scored three goals in all competitions this season, which include the late game-tying score against Crystal Palace in league play.
