A report claims Arsenal already has its sights on a Real Madrid striker as a potential successor to Alexandre Lacazette.

Things have not gone down so well with Arsenal, especially in terms of scoring goals. The current Gunners frontline is still spearheaded by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard have yet to reach their peak.

All told, Arsenal is believed to be on a hunt for a formidable striker and to do so, the club should offload one of their fringe players. Among the names linked to a possible departure is veteran forward Alexandre Lacazette.

The 30-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season but as early as now, Arsenal has already identified Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic as a suitable replacement, Spanish outlet Fichajes.net reported.

According to the report, Jovic has been earmarked by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as the “chosen one,” to fill in the void expected to be left by Lacazette.

Fortunately for Arsenal, the report said that Jovic has been keen on leaving Real Madrid “as soon as possible” after deeming his time with the Spanish club as a major disappointment.

What’s more, the report added that new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is also not impressed with Jovic, something that prompted the Serbian striker to really part ways with the club.

Jovic broke into the scene in the 2018-19 Bundesliga season after he netted a remarkable tally of 17 goals in 32 league matches for Eint Frankfurt. However, he failed to continue where he left off and became a mediocre at Real Madrid, notching only two goals since he joined Los Blancos in 2019.
