Discover Ireland is using Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Wrath of the Druid gameplay footage in their tourism promotions. While Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Wrath of the Druid doesn't have the most historically accurate plot, its renditions of historical sites are still accurate and faithful to the source material. Hence, it's a great way to promote these locations and appeal to gamers as well as to fans of Assassin's Creed.

In a short promotional video, Discover Ireland encourages tourists to “explore Viking Ireland” in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Wrath of the DruidThe tourism board partnered with Ubisoft for them to be able to legally use gameplay footage on their advertisement material. Whether or not this will actually stimulate tourism in the region, we'll still have to see. But it's a neat and interesting way to promote local heritage if anything.

If you can't go to Ireland physically for one reason or another, you can still explore Ireland and other places at your leisure. With Assassin's Creed‘s Discovery Tour mode, you have free reign over your exploration, so feel free to visit some local sites without having to worry about murder.

Of course, this isn't the first time that a local tourism board encouraged foreign tourists using a video game. Last year, the Tsushima Local Promotion Association used Sucker Punch Studio's Ghost of Tsushima to promote the Island of Tsushima. The tourism board placed real-life photos alongside in-game graphics to show how accurate the game's depictions of the historical sites have been. Ghost of Tsushima also later helped raise funds for repairs on a disaster-stricken part of Tsushima.
