The talented three-headed monster of Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve made the Houston Astros must-see baseball in recent years. But with their World Series defeat to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night, it looks like the inevitable breakup is on the horizon.

Correa has already made it clear that he won't return to the Astros at the end of the season due to reported issues with the front office regarding his contract extension. With their loss in Game 6 of the World Series, the star shortstop may have played his last game in H-Town.

In his postgame interview, Bregman admitted that he wasn't even thinking about that. But when everything sunk in, the Astros' third baseman only had good words for his longtime teammate (via CBS Sports).

“Obviously, we were planning on being able to play again tomorrow. So, I didn't really think of anything to say about it. But after the game, just thanked him for leading this team, being able to play with him for the last six years has been special. He's one of the smartest baseball players in the world. He's one of the most hardworking, he eats, sleeps, breathes the game. It's been honestly amazing to play with him.”

Is someone cutting onions?

But despite the sad end to Correa's Astros tenure, Bregman remained optimistic, leaving the door a tad-bit open for a possible return.

“I really hope we can sign him back because I think we got a good shot at continuing to do this a long time if we do.”

Astros fans are nodding in agreement.
