Starting pitcher Justin Verlander has decided to re-sign with the Houston Astros. Verlander's brother, Ben Verlander broke the news.

Justin Verlander is one of the best pictures of all the time and his signing with Houston is going to keep them at being a contender.

Verlander has spent the past five seasons in Houston including this past one where he did not pitch due to an injury. In 2019, Verlander went 21-6 with 300 strikeouts and a 2.58 ERA.

This is a big signing for the Astros. Verlander was rumored that he was going to leave Houston. There are some questions about his injury and his age but in a most recent bullpen, Verlander was throwing close to 100mph and showed that he still has elite velocity. The Astros still have a little bit to worry about as there are questions on whether Carlos Correa will re-sign with them or head to another team like the New York Yankees. This was a step in the right direction for the Astros offseason and knowing them, this won't be the last signing that they make.

Houston lost in the World Series to the Atlanta Braves but Verlander was not playing. If Verlander was out there it would have been interesting to see if the Astros would have walked away with another title. The Astros will once again be World Series favorites next season.

Verlander will almost be 40 years old, but he is still one of the best pitchers in baseball.
