The Oakland Athletics rejoiced as they activated pitcher Chris Bassitt and he made a start, his first since leaving the game after being hit by a line drive. The Athletics pitcher has not pitched since August 17 and has made a return to the field quicker than most had expected.

He took the mound on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners and his teammates were thrilled.

It was refreshing to see Bassitt back on the mound. He finished the day with three innings, giving up just one hit with no runs, a walk, and four strikeouts.

Bassitt had been enjoying a career year for the Athletics, posting a 12-4 record with a 3.22 ERA, and was dealing before the injury. But it is fantastic to see Bassitt back on the mound and healthy once again and everybody was loving this.

The Athletics have been fighting for a Wild Card spot, but currently sit a few games back and behind all of the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Seattle Mariners.

It will be tough for them to make a final push for the spot, but the return of Bassitt is a wholesome one and a terrific ray of good news as the 2021 MLB season draws its conclusion.
