The Atlanta Falcons, who face the Miami Dolphins this week, have had an up-and-down start to the 2021 NFL season. The team got waxed in its first game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 32 to 6, then the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers clobbered them by 23 (48 to 25).

The Falcons finally picked up a win in Week 3 against the New York Giants, but then lost a heartbreaker to the Washington Football Team, 34-30. The last time Atlanta played was in Week 5, when they actually played in London, England against the New York Jets and took care of business by a final score of 27 to 20.

Now, the team will face off against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7, which marks the first time these two teams have played one another since the 2017 season. That game was memorable for the Falcons accruing a 17-0 lead in the first half and then allowing 20 straight points to the Dolphins to end the game. Sound familiar?

Anyways, here are 4 bold predictions for the Falcons in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Kyle Pitts Keeps Momentum

After a generally slow start to his career, the Falcons’ 7th overall pick in the 2021 draft emerged in a big way against the Jets with 9 receptions for 119 yards and his first career touchdown.

Pitts was targeted 10 times and also nabbed a career-high 39-year pass from his quarterback Matt Ryan. The 21-year-old freak of nature out of Florida looked immensely comfortable against the Jets secondary, and he even hauled down an incredible one-handed catch to cap off what is a career day for Pitts – to this point.

Expect the gifted tight end for the Falcons to build on last week’s performance and keep up the good work – even with the Dolphins’ strong secondary.

Cordarrelle Patterson Continues All-Purpose Brilliance

Four-time Pro Bowler Cordarrelle Patterson was likely brought on to the Falcons’ roster to help improve the team’s frequently subpar kick returns, but so far, it has been his receiving ability that has been impactful for Atlanta.

Though, again, the Dolphins have a very tough secondary, Patterson has been able to find slivers of space to carve out important receptions throughout much of the season. Though he doesn’t get many targets as a receiver or carries as a running back, Patterson has been over 100 all-purpose yards solely from rushing and receiving for the past 3 games. Expect that production to continue in Week 7.

Falcons Won’t Allow a Sack

While this might seem daffy, partly because the Dolphins are tied for 11th in Pass Rush Win Rate (44%) per ESPN, the New York Jets were actually rated higher at 48% (7th) and they were unable to get a single sack on Matt Ryan and the Falcons in Week 5.

After a strong showing by the Falcons offensive line in London, look for the O-line to continue their good work against Miami.

Calvin Ridley Scores Two Touchdowns

The Dolphins have lost five straight after winning their first game of the season, and they’ve looked fairly inept doing it.

After Calvin Ridley missed the Falcons’ Week 5 matchup due to a personal matter, expect the talented touchdown magnet Ridley to get back to what he does best against the Dolphins. He’s only nabbed one touchdown this season, which is definitely below his expected work following getting 10, 7 and 9 in his first three seasons, respectively.
